Module geodesy.projection.pseudo_mercator

Bounded EPSG 1024 Popular Visualisation Pseudo-Mercator projection.

This module provides the familiar web-mapping projection as an explicit bounded mathematical operation rather than a CRS database entry. The source ellipsoid is retained as operation identity, while EPSG 1024 coordinate equations intentionally use only its semi-major axis.

Standards

EPSG method 1024 -- Popular Visualisation Pseudo Mercator.

Domain

Public latitude is deliberately bounded to the documented geodesy-d interval rather than implying validity arbitrarily close to the poles.

Units

Projected coordinates and false offsets use the same linear unit as the ellipsoid semi-major axis.

Performance

Prepared operation state is reusable and checked numerical paths are allocation-free.

Validation

Covered by public API/runtime validation and independent differential projection tests retained by the repository.
