Struct PlaneDescriptor

Physical metadata for one logical raster plane.

struct PlaneDescriptor;

base identifies descriptor-space coordinate (0, 0) of the physical plane representation.

This is a resident-storage coordinate origin. It is not the global/logical image origin unless a higher layer deliberately makes those coordinate systems identical.

Strides are signed and expressed in elements of the sample type interpreted by the RasterView using this descriptor. Resource allocation sizes remain byte-based at the backing-storage layer.

Signed strides permit validated negative traversal where required.

Example

Example describing a plane with signed element strides.

import raster;

ubyte[16] storage;
const descriptor = PlaneDescriptor(storage.ptr, -4, 1);

assert(descriptor.base == storage.ptr);
assert(descriptor.rowStrideElements == -4);
assert(descriptor.sampleStrideElements == 1);
